Uber Driver Told This Sudanese Model To Bleach Her Incredibly Dark Skin

Some people hid their uniqueness or abnormality but a South Sudanese model Nyakim Gatwech aka Queen of the Dark, is taking the fashion world by storm.

While challenging stereotypes about skin color and conventional beauty through her Instagram posts, magazine covers and photo shoots alike.

The 24-year-old beauty is proud of her skin color, saying “My chocolate is elegant.

So is what I represent… A nation of warriors,” under one of her social media posts. She simply laughs off the weird comments and questions she gets, be it an Uber driver suggesting she try ‘bleaching’ her skin or a cabbie asking her if she would change her skin color for money.

“You won’t believe the kind of questions I get and the kind of looks I get for having this skin,” Gatwech says.

“Black is bold, black is beautiful, black is gold… Don’t let American standards damage your African soul,” is another of Nyakim’s bold statements.

In 2016, an Uber driver suggested she bleach her skin, implying her complexion was not something to be proud of

The model has since become a voice of encouragement for the Black community

She is currently followed by 200,000 Instagram users and has appeared on various magazine covers
