Self Sustainable Home With Amazing Views Of Aurora Borealis

The Arctic Circle evoke up as a place of extreme weather conditions, though it is beautiful and amazing geographic view, but living there is extremely tough still, one family has managed to create their own cheerful heaven in the far extent of Norway.


This story of Hjertefolger family, which has been living on Norway’s Sandhornoya island since 2013.

There they have created a three-story cob home, built from sand, water, clay, and other organic materials and is cased within an artistic, and solar functional dome. This family has found an environmentally peaceful place to survive.


With incredible views across the island and front row seats to the incredibly starry night’s sky, it makes us want to quit city living.


One of the family member in an interview said that

“The feeling we get as we walk into this house is something different from walking into any other house. The atmosphere is unique. The house has a calmness; I can almost hear the stillness. It is hard to explain. But it would have been impossible to get this feeling from a house someone else had planned and built for us, or a house with corners and straight lines. ”
