Two Australian models, size 6 Georgia Gibbs and her size 16 friend, Kate Wasley took a picture on Sydney Harbour and posted it online. They were seriously shocked by the hate it attracted.
“We posted this picture, just as best friends going out on the weekend, it got reposted a lot and the controversy started,” Miss Gibbs wrote on Instagram.” You have photoshopped yourself thinner or your friend bigger, what kind of friend are you?” was one of the comments.
It broke my heart because Kate and I are best friends why would I do that?
Anybody is a creative idea of Australian models and best friends, Georgia Gibbs and Kate Wasley. The brand was created to celebrate bodies of every shape and size, and the girls practice what they preach, Georgia a UK size 6 and Kate a UK size 16.
Normally, this wouldn’t be an issue. But how negatively people took it, they decide to take some positive step for this. Instead of getting violated and hurt, Kate and Georgia have turned the incident into something they can use to help other women.
They have launched an Instagram account promoting a body positive message, @any.body_co, to show that there is “no size standard for the modern woman.”
The best friends say that women often face comparison on various scales, instead of that they should respect their body and structure. Judgement should affect your individuality at any point.
